Privacy policy.

Effective July 24, 2026. The short version: Phrasora listens only while you’re dictating, keeps only your most recent recordings so you can replay them across your devices, and lets you delete your account and the data it holds in one step.

What we store.

• Your account. The email address you sign in with.
• Your dictionary.Terms Phrasora has learned or you’ve added, so they sync across your devices.
• Your settings. Preferences like your formatting mode.
• Your dictation history.The text of what you dictate syncs across the devices you’re signed in on, so your history and stats are available everywhere. You can delete any entry, and deleting your account removes all of it.
• Your most recent recordings. Up to your last fifty recordings are saved to a private, per-account folder so you can replay them on any device; older recordings are deleted automatically, and you can delete any of them yourself.
• Weekly word counts.How many words you dictate each week, to enforce the free tier’s limit. Counts, never content.
• Billing details, if you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe (on the web) or by Apple (subscriptions bought inside the iOS app); we never see or store your card with either. We keep your subscription status and, for trial fairness, a one-way hash of your email that outlives account deletion.

How dictation is processed.

When you dictate, audio is captured only for that dictation. On an eligible device and language, the app streams it over an encrypted connection directly to Soniox for real-time transcription using a short-lived credential issued by our backend. Otherwise, including when the real-time route is unavailable or needs durable recovery, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection through our backend (Supabase) to Groq for transcription. The transcript is then sent through our backend to Groq for cleanup before the resulting text is returned to your device.

Phrasora does not ask either speech provider to store your audio or transcript and does not use their storage or training features. Soniox states that its real-time service does not retain audio or transcript content unless its separate storage service is used; Phrasora does not use that storage service. Groq states that inference content is not retained by default, although its policy permits limited temporary logging for service reliability or abuse investigation. Both providers retain non-content usage information such as request identifiers, duration, token counts, and cost. Phrasora does not build a voice profile.

For an eligible exact-English real-time dictation, Phrasora may also send Soniox a bounded panel of terms from your synced dictionary, including names or email addresses even when they are not spoken in that take. These terms guide spelling; they are context hints, not forced replacement rules. Other language selections do not receive dictionary context.

Separately, so you can replay your work, your most recent recordings (up to the last fifty) are saved to a private, per-account folder and sync across your devices; older ones are deleted automatically. This account recording is separate from the provider copy used to process one dictation.

Your agreement, and changing your mind.Before your first dictation, the app explains this processing and asks for your agreement; nothing is sent until you agree. You can withdraw that agreement at any time in the app’s settings. Dictation and AI features pause until you turn them back on, and everything already stored stays under your control through the deletion tools below.

Correction learning, if you leave it on.After Phrasora types for you, it briefly watches only that field, on your device, so a correction you make can improve your personal dictionary. With AI term suggestions enabled, the inserted text and your correction are sent securely to suggest dictionary terms, they’re processed, not kept. Both switches live in Settings → Learning.

Personal writing memory and insights.To make cleanup fit how you write and to power the Refine vocabulary suggestions, your recent dictation text is also processed by a background AI provider (Ollama Cloud). It’s used only to build your own writing profile and suggestions on your account — never sold, and never used for advertising.

Matching where your text lands.So your dictation comes out formatted for where it’s going — an email, a chat message, a note — Phrasora reads a short snippet (at most a couple of sentences) of the field you’re dictating into, together with the app and window name, and sends it alongside your dictation as a formatting reference. It is never read from a password or secure field, is used only to format that one dictation, and is not stored. Where your app offers it, you can turn this off in Settings → Formatting.

What we never collect.

• No screenshots and no screen recording.
• No keystroke logging.
• No reading of other apps or fields — only the field you’re actively dictating into, and only the short formatting snippet described above.
• No selling of personal data, no advertising, no ad trackers or analytics pixels on this site. The one narrow exception: if you arrive through an affiliate’s link (a URL containing ?ref=), a cookie remembers that referral for 90 days so the affiliate is credited if you subscribe. It stores only the referral code, no browsing history, no identity, and it is never set for visitors who don’t use an affiliate link.

Service providers.

We use a small number of providers to run Phrasora. Each one acts on our instructions as a processor, may use your data only to provide the service described here, and is bound to protect it to the same or a stronger standard than this policy:

• Supabase, accounts, dictionary, and settings, hosted in Canada.
• Soniox, real-time speech-to-text. On eligible dictations, audio streams directly from the app to Soniox and the transcript returns to Phrasora. For eligible exact-English dictations, Soniox may also receive the bounded dictionary context described above. Soniox states that real-time audio and transcript content is not retained unless its separate storage service is used; Phrasora does not use that service or ask Soniox to train on the content.
• Groq, speech-to-text and text cleanup inference. Groq states that customer content is not used for model training and is not retained for inference by default, subject to the limited reliability and abuse-monitoring cases described in its data policy.
• Ollama Cloud, background AI that builds your personal writing memory and the Refine vocabulary suggestions from your recent dictation text.
• Vercel, hosting for this website.
• Resend, delivery of sign-in code emails.
• Stripe, payment processing for Pro subscriptions bought on the web; your card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our systems.
• Apple, payment processing for Pro subscriptions bought inside the iOS app; Apple handles the transaction and we receive only your subscription status.
• RevShare, runs our affiliate program. If you arrive via an affiliate link, it records the referral (the code and the click) so the affiliate is paid; if you then subscribe, it receives the payment amount and an anonymous customer reference, never your name, email, or card details.

Retention and deletion.

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or from the account page, either way it immediately and permanently removes your account, dictionary, settings, history, recordings, and personal writing memory from our systems. In-app deletion also wipes everything stored on that device. The one exception: the one-way email hash used to prevent free-trial abuse is retained.

Changes.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll email account holders before the change takes effect.
