Set up Phrasora on Android.

On Android, Phrasora floats a button above any app and types your dictation into it. Setup is installing the app and granting one permission — Accessibility — which powers both the button and the typing.

Android 10 or later. Free for 2,000 words a week, no card.

Step by step

Install, grant, dictate.

1

Install the app

Get Phrasora for Android from the downloads page and open it. The app gets you set up and holds your dictionary and history.

2

Allow the microphone

Allow microphone access so Phrasora can hear you. On Android 13 and later it may also ask to send notifications — allow that so it can show recording and learned-word alerts. Whatever it asks for, allow it; if anything is off you can turn it on from system settings, and the setup screen updates the moment you do.

3

Grant Accessibility

Phrasora uses Android's accessibility service to show its floating button over your text fields and to type your dictation into other apps — that one permission powers both. On the Accessibility screen, tap Installed apps, then Phrasora, switch on Use Phrasora, and tap Allow on the pop-up.

4

Try your first dictation

Tap a text field and the Phrasora button appears over the keyboard. Tap it, say a sentence, and your clean text lands in the field. That's it — you're set up.

Installed from outside Google Play and see “Restricted setting”? Tap the three-dot menu at the top-right, then Allow restricted settings, and try the toggle again.

One permission, two jobs

Accessibility does the work.

Granting Accessibility lets Phrasora draw its floating button and place your words at the cursor after a dictation. It never acts on its own, never reads other parts of your screen, and does nothing outside dictations you start.
